Sacred Symbol


Ana Deo symbolizes the presence of ancestors or ancestors. This statue is considered very sacred and has magical powers. The ancestral statue of Ana Deo is believed to protect villagers in Flores from evil spirits.
This statue is usually kept on the roof of the house and the traditional house of the Lio people. This traditional house that specifically stores heirlooms is called Keda
Every day the owner gives 'food' in the form of offerings to the ancestors. You do this by taking the food that will be eaten that day and then serving it and placing it in front of the statue.
According to the tradition that developed in the community, the statue of Ana Deo was actually made of wood. However, after the disaster, the statue was lost. The community then replaced the statue with another statue made of bronze metal
Ana Deo is a pair of statues consisting of a man and a woman. The statue is a statue of husband and wife. The shape of these two statues is different in each tribe.
