PALEMBANG SRIWIJAYA BODHISATTVA 7th - 8th CENTURIES


The Srivijaya Kingdom as a center for trade and the spread of Buddhism around the 7th century AD. The Sriwijaya Kingdom was located on the banks of the Musi River, Palembang, South Sumatra. In its time, the Sriwijaya Kingdom became the center of Buddhism in Southeast Asia and East Asia. The Sriwijaya Kingdom was founded by Dapunta Hyang Sri Jayanasa.
The Sriwijaya Kingdom was once the center of Buddhist scientific activity in Southeast Asia.
Apart from being a large Buddhist kingdom in the archipelago, Sriwijaya was also able to develop itself as a maritime nation. The Sriwijaya kingdom was located on the shipping and trade routes of East Asia and South Asia. It even controls two important sea waters in trade, such as the Malacca Strait and the Sunda Strait.
