Majapahit Terracotta is a terracotta art and craft originating from the Majapahit era around the 13th to 15th centuries. Significant terracotta earthenware artifacts from this period were found in Trowulan, East Java.
Over the years many terracotta statues and artifacts have been found as a result of farming activities, building roads etc. Some of these finds were put together in the museum in Trowulan before World War II, but in the following years many of these collections have been lost. Post World War II, many pieces have been excavated as a result of digging for gold. After the harvest, farmers lease their land to diggers who dig pits to excavate the alluvial soil for gold. Terracota are incidental finds, often bearing signs of digging tools

Many human statues have been found decapitated, indicating their use as religious statues or offerings. However, construction techniques may also make it brittle. Another explanation is that these statues were objects of secular play, removed once they were damaged.[7] Generally the statues are small, sized and constructed by the bobbin and clamp method with carved or incised decoration, a sculptural method of formation.[8] Other statues are made by printing, as shown in the first two pictures below. This is an unusual example in that there are no fracture lines in the neck. The variety of expressions is unlimited with naturalistic postures and facial expressions. Complete statues are rare in comparison to the many headless or headless figures. They often take the form of a woman sitting in a polite lady's pose, on her calves with her legs tucked under her.[9] The numbers on the right are complete. The statues of the two heads have been separated but the two fragments were found together. He sat holding something to his chest. It may be a platter or offering tray, or as Kunst (1927) thinks, it may be a drum.[10] The third figurine is sitting and playing what can clearly be seen as a musical instrument. Next to it is a statue with a red sheet around its neck, presumably in the place where the head would have been separated. The reason why there were so many heads without bodies is unknown but it is speculated that the statues may have been decapitated in ritual offerings
